Grand Piano
I must start this review saying that I'm a huge fan of Elijah Wood, since he has been my greatest idol when I was a teenager. You can call me weird, but, while every girl was falling in love with Legolas after watching "The Lord of the Rings", I was amazed with Frodo. Therefore, I usually watch every work from this "little man".
When I read the plot of "Grand Piano" it reminded me a lot of the fantastic "Phone Both", with Colin Farrell, a movie that became a great surprise for me at that time. And, basically, is exactly the same, changing the phone both for the piano. Even though, the concept and the screenplay of "Phone Both" are way better than in "Grand Piano".

In spite of being an entertaining movie that gets you hooked easily, the ending is quite a disappointment and it has elements too caricatured. Wood carries on pretty well with most part of the film, but coming to the end, he lets down in the same way the movie does. It's such a pity, especially taking into account in some scenes I've even seen a couple of "Hitchcock" type flashes, drawing a smile in my face. The music raises the quality of the movie quite a lot and saves it from declining, which is a positive point.

In conclusion, a good idea which hasn't been handled apropiately to get a satisfactory ending. Also, apart from Elijah Wood, the performances leave much to be desired, starting with Kerry Bishé, who basically is in the movie as a wallflower, and how the wasted the opportunity of having John Cusack, an actor I normally enjoy watching.
6/10
