Los Tenenbaums: Una Familia de Genios / The Royal Tenenbaums

Hace poco vi "Rushmore", y ya que me dejó buen sabor de boca he decidido repasar toda la filmografía de Wes Anderson. La siguiente en la lista era "Los Tenenbaums: Una Familia de Genios", con un gran conjunto de actores y actrices como Gene Hackman, Anjelica Huston, Ben Stiller, Gwyneth Paltrow, Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, Danny Glover y Bill Murray. Además, esta era la película que supuestamente iba a hacerme reír esta semana.

Some days ago I watched "Rushmore" and it was so good I decided to keep going with Wes Anderson's filmography. The next in the list was "The Royal Tenenbaums", with a great ensemble of actors and actresses, such as Gene Hackman, Anjelica Huston, Ben Stiller, Gwyneth Paltrow, Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, Danny Glover and Bill Murray. Also, this was the movie supposed to make me laugh this week.

Los Tenenbaums son una familia bastante atípica, compuesta por Royal y Etheline (que acaban separándose) y sus tres hijos, considerados como genios a temprana edad, Richie, Chas y Margot. Pasados unos años, y ya siendo adultos, vemos como los vástagos de este matrimonio no han llevado demasiado bien su genialidad, y todos se enfrentan a sus propios demonios. 

The Tenenbaums are a quite odd family, formed by Royal and Etheline (who end up separating) and their three children, considered as genius at an early age, Richie, Chas and Margot. Some years after, and being adults, we can see how this matrimony's descendants haven't dealt very well with their brilliance and all of them have to face their own demons. 

Siguiendo su estilo una vez más, Anderson crea una historia interesante y altamente disfrutable, pero, en mi opinión, inferior a "Rushmore". Me ha encantado el principio, con la presentación de los personajes, pero algunas partes del medio de la trama se hacen un poco aburridas. Eso sí, si hay algo que se le da bien a este director es crear personajes que se quedan para siempre en tu memoria, y en la familia Tenenbaum todos merecen la pen. Aún así, no ha conseguido hacerme reír en ningún momento...

Following his stile again, Anderson creates an interesting and highly enjoyable story, but, in my opinion, quite inferior to "Rushmore". I loved the beginning with the introduction of the characters, but some parts in the middle of the plot were a bit boring. For sure, I have to admit that this director is great at creating characters that stay forever in your mind, and in the Tenenbaum family  everyone is worth it. Nonetheless, it could make me laugh at any moment...

Los otros dos puntos claves a destacar son la música y la fotografía. Y es que hay algo mágico en cada plano de Wes Anderson, algo que confiere a sus películas su propia seña de identidad, lo cual me encanta.

The other key points to highlight are the music and cinematography. And the thing there is something magic in every shot of Wes Anderson, something that confers his movies their own symbol of identity, which I really love.
